Great looking web site. For me it would be easier to read if the print was darker. In Addition, my password doesn’t work. I had this problem before and it doesn’t seem to have been fixed. What do you need from me to take care of this. If we need to start over with a new user name and password that’s fine with me. Let me know.

A first look suggests:

1- For an in process, a terrific job

2- Increase type size. It’s an attractive font, but is too small.

3- The print is so faded – light grey – that it is very hard to read.

4- The layout is very organized, it’s easy to use (as far as I’ve explored)

5- It must have been a lot of work. Thanks for the effort

Hi Eugene,
Wow you’ve been busy! Well my comments are more on the visual side and
basically my first impressions. The site loaded looking very light like
there was a veil over it. ?? I think it needs to have more color. fonts -
blocks of color maybe ? and the info in the middle could be broken up with
different fonts or colors and I’d like to see pictures- pics of these
events–anything really. Its great that there is LOTS of information and it
seems very organized with nice short descriptions. Maybe a featured event
with nice picture?? I keep going back to pictures but I’m one that still
looks at the pictures first.

My 2 cents.

Hi Eugene,

Thanks for your message, and again, for your hard work on the web site. I am pleased that you are asking for feedback.

I just spent just a few minutes to “Look around”. I will be looking more in the next few days.

The technical ideas were of interest, even though I don’t understand them, it is nice to be introduced and have some awareness. The site has a nice “Arrangement”. It is pleasing to the eye, in general. Apple does one thing in some of it’s sites’ areas, that you are doing; that is using gray text on white. Light gray. This makes it less readable / harder to read. I don’t understand the purpose of using gray on white. Whatever it is, readability, is more important. I would much prefer black on white or black on a very light pastel color if any, or white text on black. The latter is striking I think.

Many thanks.
More later.

Aloha,
Howard

Website does not look too bad. Here are my initial
observations:

1. The gray type on white background is too small and
hard to read. Especially the smaller than regular text
links on the right and left hand columns. Can you go
back to plain old black on white and push the type
size up about 2 points on the default? Make the links
in the traditional blue and when you rollover them
they temporarily turn red or another color. The tabs
on the drop down menu at the the top could use a
little more color and of course get away from the hard
to read grey on white text.

2. I could not find a link to register for the
“Leaderboard”.

3. I’ve tried Wordpress in the past and the most
frustrating thing for me to do was create a graphic
banner at the top without using the default Kubrick
text of your site’s title. Also I think the HMAUS logo
and full title of the organization should appear on
the top instead of just HMAUS Signal.

4. I’ll look at the site further and comment if
needed.

    Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for the great recommendations. The most important it appears was that there wasn’t enough contrast. So I changed the body text to blue, headers darker grey and links blue. Made a few other changes. But the text color was the most important thing.

Thanks again Eugene for all your work on the website, and other things.
LOVE the new text color – its soft, its friendly but its readable. Could also use some darkening of the grays on the calendar and agree with the sugg on the name of the org somewhere in the header.

I was also wondering about a navigation tutorial for newcomers including instructions on how to post? Maybe Wordpress has a link for that or are we set up in a unique way? Since you have to login are only to post and most people probably don’t post, I guess its fine the registration and login buttons are way down below the fold, but otherwise perhaps they could be moved up in the chain.

love the content, slick 8-) joan

    Thanks for the LOVE!

Visitors (assigned contributor roles) are able to comment to existing posts or create their own posts.

The link to add comments are at the bottom of each post.

And to create a post, the user should be in the Dashboard. In there, click on “Write a post”.

    Or click the Write tab.

They both go to the same place … the message editor.

The Meta stuff can go higher up.
