You’ve seen it there on the dock, maybe even opened it up and thought “maybe later”. Well, here’s your chance to learn how to “master” iWeb, one of the free iLife applications on your Apple, in a single day. Ross Rasmussen, in his usual low-key style, will present an introduction on February 13, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at ING Direct Cafe. In this class he will guide you through the program, showing you how to choose a template, use add and format text, drop in images and movies, add links and more pages, then publish it to as your first web page. View the Apple iWeb video tutorial for an overview of this free Mac program. http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#iweb No registration needed for this session.Everyone welcome to this free morning session.
Here’s my URL – iWeb! Hands-on Session:
Then grab some lunch at the Cafe and at noon the same day Ross will take those who are brave to the next step; creating the each part of your website and publishing it to the Internet. He will lead you through making navigation menus, customizing your pages, publishing to your MobileMe account, and what to do if you don’t have a MobileMe account. Of course, as with all of Ross’s classes, the students will help direct the direction the class takes. He promises to help keep everyone on track so that everyone can get the most out of the class. Registration: $5 for members, $10 for non-members with registration priority to members. Limit 12. Click here to register: MacLearn Registration Form. Please be SURE to specify it’s for the iWeb Hands-on workshop. You will be prompted with a payment screen but you can ignore it and pay on the day of the workshop if you prefer. Submitting the registration from reserves you a seat in the workshop.
For this hands-on session at 12 p.m. bring your computer with iWeb installed. If people want to share computers while they learn, that is okay and could be fun. You should bring photos with you (preferably in iPhoto) and movie clips if you have some. Both can be incorporated into your website. Requirement: Attendance at the morning session or previous experience using iWeb for this session.
While Ross will be teaching iWeb ‘09, you can do some of the same things with earlier versions. Above all, be prepared to have a good time and learn more about your Mac.
Location: ING Direct Cafe 1958 Kalakaua Avenue. Driving and parking directions here. http://www.hmaus.org/meetings-workshops/maclearn/
