CNBC presents three great programs today and tomorrow

Here are three programs from CNBC which will get your geek up: Welcome to Macintosh, MacHEADS and Inside the Mind of Google. Show times are today at 4:30 p.m. and tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Oceanic Cable broadcasts CNBC on channels 116 and 1116.

Welcome to Macintosh
A look back at the inventors, engineering and design that came together to produce the world renowned Mac computers.

Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, two friends united by their interest in technology and dissatisfied with personal computers made by others, set out to make what they called the world’s first good personal computer. The first Apple computer became the cornerstone of a company that would change the world. In 1984, Apple introduced Macintosh and thrust the industry forward into a new era. The style and ease of a Mac led to an inspired revolution in the computer industry. Whether you know it or not, these events have changed your life.

MacHEADS
Explores the world of Mac, a cultural phenomena that created a cult fan base, made Steve Jobs a modern day hero and generated a multi-million dollar business.

The Mac community is filled with adoring fans. There’s worldwide excitement and anticipation for “all things Apple.” You’ll meet adoring Apple fans with unwavering loyalty for the company and it’s products. What makes Mac computers, the iPhone and iPods so popular?

Inside the Mind of Google
Takes viewers Inside The Mind of Google for a rare look at the world’s most powerful technology company and its crown jewel, the Google Internet search engine. This is the fascinating story of how two grad students, in barely a decade, took a one-time research project and turned it into a global technology powerhouse…changing the way we interact with information, the Internet, and each other. See how Google came to dominate the search industry and turn it into a profit machine… and see where it’s taking its next step… and how the company plans to address arguably the biggest controversy in today’s digital age: privacy.

Giving Thanks from Agile Web Solutions

turkey

Thanksgiving is for us all to give thanks with a grateful heart. I am thankful to be able to work from home so I can spend more time with my four-year-old daughter and ten-month-old son. I try to remember this each time Jack interrupts to chew my MacBook Pro’s power cord! :)

Agile Web Solutions would not exist without all our wonderful users, so the real thanks belongs to you. To show our appreciation we wanted to give you a gift: a free copy of 1Password Pro for iPhone and iPod touch. Go to iTunes to receive your gift:

1Password Pro touch

I hope you enjoy your gift! Be sure to download 1Password Pro touch before December 1st, when the price will revert to $7.99.

Until next time, take care and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

1Password 3 launches — 50 new features and enhancements

1password-icon-512

Toronto (Ontario, Canada) – Agile Web Solutions announces the immediate availability of 1Password 3, its award-winning password and identity manager for the Mac. Over one year in the making, 1Password 3 is the most significant upgrade in company history, incorporating years of customer feedback and new innovation from Agile’s unique, comprehensive approach to making its users’ lives more secure and convenient.

1Password 3 adds over 50 fantastic new features and enhancements, as well as some good ol’ fashioned elbow grease. 1PasswordAnywhere – the most-requested 1Password feature of all time – has arrived, enabling users to view their 1Password information on any computer with a modern browser. Users can also now organize their software licenses in a new, dedicated 1Password Vault category, customize exactly what information syncs to 1Password touch on an iPhone or iPod touch, attach and encrypt virtually any file in 1Password, use Smart Search to filter for just the right results, use tags throughout 1Password for new organizational power, edit 1Password items directly from its browser extensions, and more.

These new features and enhancements were fused with a gorgeous new interface and full 64-bit support for Snow Leopard, while 1Password got even better at encrypting and protecting the information that nearly one million users entrust to it every day. Agile Web Solutions toiled away on 1Password 3 for over a year, then tested it with a large, private team for months. Now, all Mac users may experience the many ways in which 1Password 3 can make their lives more secure and convenient.

1Password 3 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard and 10.6 Snow Leopard. It is a paid upgrade, though users who purchased 1Password 2 on or after February 1, 2009 get free license upgrades to version 3 (that’s nine months of free upgrades!). All other owners of 1Password versions 1 or 2 can take advantage of a limited-time, Early Bird Upgrade Discount. Through the end of November, save 50% off the purchase of a single license upgrade at $19.95 USD, or save 57% off a Family Pack upgrade of five licenses for just $29.95. Full licenses cost $39.95 for single users, and $69.95 for Family Packs.

Agile Web Solutions is dedicated to making Mac OS X even better by creating innovative applications like 1Password, the premier Password Manager for Mac and iPhone, and AllBookmarks, a bookmark manager that collects all browser bookmarks in one place. 1Password is ‘Highly Recommended’ by Macworld, an Apple Staff Pick, and is a Mac|Life Editors’ Pick. All products have free, 30-day trials available from Agile Web Solutions’ site.

President declares "I am not a Geek"

At yesterday’s appearance on the Bytemarks Cafe radio program HMAUS president Terrence Young declares “I am not a Geek” in response to a question from co-host Ryan Ozawa about the kinds of people who belong to user groups. This an apparent faux-pas as fellow HMAUS member Rick “Wolfman” Gass sat beside him in the studio proudly wearing a t-shirt boldly emblazoned with the words “Mac geek” across the front.

Burt Lum and Ryan invited Young and Gass to the Bytemarks Cafe radio program to talk about the upcoming Mac Springfest. Other guests include two gentlemen from Coral Cross who talked about pandemic preparedness using alternate reality gaming technology.
