MacLearn

For Mac users who want to learn more about optimizing their Mac experience.

MacLearn offers HMAUS free presentations on a variety of Mac apps and topics.  We usually meet from 10 – 12 noon on the fourth Saturday of every month at  ING Direct Cafe 1958 Kalakaua Ave..   Lots of reasonably priced coffee drinks and snacks for purchase.  There are sometimes low cost hands-on workshops with priority given to HMAUS members.  We are open to suggestions on topics and learning activities so share your thoughts and requests!  Workshop handouts are available for download at  http://drop.io/hmaus_maclearn.

Please be SURE to indicate the workshop or topic you are interested in.  There is no registration needed for the free demo/presentations.

  • January 23 10 – 12  Mobilize Me! Ways to connect your computers (Mac and Windows), iPhone, iPod calendars, addressbooks and files.  Marie Albu presenting. Free demonstration/presentation.
  • January 30 10 – 12 Plan to Plan..HAPPIE Brainstorm – Join us for a planning session not just for MacLearn but for all of our HMAUS educational activities.  All welcome.
  • February 13 Sat. 10-11:30 iWeb  demo/presentation with Ross Rasmussen. Make a great website with a free built-in iLife app. Free.
  • February 13 Sat. 12 – 2:30 p.m.  iWeb Hands-on workshop. Ross invites you to stay for the afternoon and actually create your site.  Registration: $5 for members, $10 for non-members. Lunch available at the Cafe.   Members have priority. Pre-req:  attendance at the morning session or experience with iWeb.
  • February 20 Saturday 10 – 2 pm Kelby Online Training Videos – Photoshop Elements
  • February 27 Saturday No MacLearn today in lieu of the Unconferenz 2010 at K.C.C.. This is a grassroots gathering of folks interested in anything tech.   • March 4 Thurs. 6 pm – 7:30 pm  Pictures, One Album. Bring pictures and iphone or digital camera movies and make things to share with family and friends using iPhoto, iMovie, Magic DVD and a couple of free online photo services.
  • March 6 Saturday 3:30 – 5 pm Kelby Online Training Videos – Photoshop.
  • March 12 Friday 6 pm – 7:30 pm  Kelby Online Training Videos – Illustrator
  • March 17 Wednesday 6 pm - 7:30 pm Kelby OnLine Training Videos – Photoshop or Photography
  • March 27 Saturday iWork Numbers. 11:30 – 12:30 Demonstration/presentation by Ross Rasmussen.  1 pm – 2:30 pm Hands-on workshop.  Register at http://www.hmaus.org/meetings-workshops/maclearn/maclearn-registration/ $5 for members, $10 for non-members.
  • April 10 Saturday iWeb 2 Hands-on workshop.  Ross Rasmussen expands on iWeb features.  Prior experience, attendance at first workshop or careful review of the iWeb handout and Apple iWeb videos required.  Registration.

  • From Ala Moana Blvd – stay in the left lane, shoot across the intersection to Pau St.
  • From McCully – stay in the left lane after you pass Ala Wai canal and turn left onto Kalakaua Avenue, then left onto Pau St.

Parking

  • Please park in the Employee  lot if possible:   From Ala Wai, turn left (makai) onto Niu Street.  Turn left into the concrete lot just before Kalakaua.  Please park so you don’t block anyone.
  • If the employee lot is full, you can park behind the Cafe, enter from Pau St.
  • If both lots are full, the lot on McCully and Kalakaua is pay and park.
