FAQs

Q1: I’m an HMAUS member and cannot see the “members only” pages. Why can’t I see these pages?

Only HMAUS members with a user account on the HMAUS Signal web site will be able to see “members only” pages and posts. Those with a user account will be able to view “members only” pages and posts after logging onto the system. If you previously created an account, log in first. If you have not created an account yet, create an account, then log in.

Q2: How do I create a user account on the HMAUS Signal web site?

From the home page of the web site there are two links to enable you to create a user account on the HMAUS Signal web site.

First method: Click on the link called “Register.” This is located in the right hand column, in the section called Meta. Enter a user name and your email address in the entry panel. When you submit your registration by clicking on the “Register” button, the system will send an email to you with your password.

Second method: Click on the link called “Member Log In.” This is located at the top right hand corner of the home page. At the bottom of the entry panel, click on the link called “Register”. Enter a user name and your email address in the register entry panel. When you submit your registration by clicking on the “Register” button, the system will send an email to you with your password.

Q3: Why can’t I log into the HMAUS Signal web site even though I entered my user name and password?

The most common mistake is not entering user names and passwords exactly as created. The HMAUS Signal web site security uses case sensitive user names and passwords. Be sure to enter characters in upper or lower case as the case may be.

Q4: How can I log into the HMAUS Signal web site when I’ve forgotten my password?

The system can create a new, random password for you and send it to you. Click on the “Lost your password?” link at the bottom of the log in panel. Then, enter your user name or your email address. The system will then send a confirmation email message to you to make sure that you are truly the one requesting the password. Click on the confirmatoin link in the email message. The system will then send you another email message with your new password.

After you’ve logged into the HMAUS web site, it would be a good idea to go into your profile and change your password to something you will remember.

Q5: I can’t retrieve any lost password message that the system sends to me because I’ve changed by email address. How can I log in?

At this point you should go ahead and create another account for yourself. See question 2.

Q6. My old user name doesn’t work anymore. It looks something like this: USERS99-123. How do I log in to the web site now?

Your old user name and password is no longer used for web site access. It is still being used, but only for access to your personal profile in the membership database. To gain web site access to the “members only” pages and posts, create a new account on the system. See question 2.

Chances are that the system already has an account for you for web site access. You can try to retrieve your access information it it exists. See question 4.

Q7, I successfully created a user account on the HMAUS Signal web site but when I log in the system still thinks I am not a member because I can’t see the “members only” pages and posts. Why can’t I see these pages?

Your account needs to be verified against the membership database by the membership chairman. After your membership is verified the membership chairman will set the proper access codes on your web site account. We still do this part manually. Please wait another day or two.

Q8: I registered for a new account or I requested a new password and I don’t see any email message from the HMAUS Signal web site. Where is it?

The first place you may want to check is your SPAM folder or your trash folder. It is possible that you did receive it but missed it because it may have been filtered, marked and routed.

Another reason for not seeing this email message is because some ISP email servers will delay sending the message onto you. ISPs are increasingly employing this and other methods to reduce SPAM. Check with your ISP to see if they are using this method on their mail services. And ask them about whitelisting email messages from certain senders. Lava Net is an example of one local ISP which employs a delay.

Q9: Do I need to know my username and password to renew my membership?

No, you do not need to know your username and password to submit a renewal or new member application.

You will be able to submit a renewal application via the Internet here:

If you do not wish to submit a membership application via the Internet this page also has a printable PDF form which you may complete and mail to the membership chair.
