This is a follow up to Joe Kissell’s great iChat on iCloud.  Each participant selects a section of the “Take Control of iCloud” book, then we will present to each other. Gregg Kamei will be our facilitator.

The second half of the morning from 10:30-12 will be iPhoto Slideshows. We’ll also show you how to use Animoto to  make another kind of cool slide show that loads to the web for you.

Come to this unique session and find out. We will first have a shotgun lecture presentation of the top features of Lion and iOS5. Then you can choose to go to a hands-on session to use the features of either Lion for laptop or iMac, or iOS 5 for mobile devices.

He’s coming to Honolulu just for Mactoberfest to share his unique, entertaining perspectives on the latest OS X Lion, the imminent iCloud and iOS 5, the best of his Mac 911 troubleshooting tips, plus show us how we can create music using an iPad and Garageband. iPhoto - Jerome Koehler, Apple Solutions Consultant from Best Buy Aiea stepped us through the interface, keywording, faces, places, albums and web galleries. Picnik is a free online photoediting site.  Do adjustments, add Photoshop styles effects, add frames and text, resize and save.  Very intuitive but if you want to see an overview click the link below. Boot Camp #1  Mac 101. 7/24 (new date) This is our first full day hands-on boot camp to get you started with your Mac. Hear it, do it, master it! This is your base set of skills. We’ll cover Leopard/Snow Leopard tips; how to find, view and organize files efficiently, short cuts and an introduction to the suite of iapps that come with your Mac.  Come and immerse yourself for a day and walk away with real skill. Digital cameras, scanners and camera phones have made everyone a photographer.  That’s a good thing!  But now you have a ton of photos to keep track of, to fix and to make things with, and that’s … perplexing!  Join us for a demonstration of what you can do to organize, edit and share your photos with iPhoto, Picnik, Photoshop Elements and online photosharing services. You can’t learn HOW to use all of these products in 2 hours, but you can learn WHY you’d want one over the other.  We will followup with hands-on workshops for those who are interested in learning how.

This is a shotgun presentation in which Gregg Kamei and Joan Matsukawa will demonstrate a number of possibilities for later exploration.   See how you can

• organize your photos in iPhoto events and albums, geotag and keyword them for easy retrieval, and use a free web photo service such as Google’s Picasa or HP’s Tabblo and Smilebox e-cards.
• edit them in iPhoto and in Picnik, a free web photo editing service, then
• share them in slide shows, galleries, albums and DVDs.

Then see how you can take movies with your iPhone and…

• send them to yourself or transfer them from your phone or digital camera by cable to your computer and iMovie
• organize clips in a project and
• edit the clips with titles, effects and music, then finally
• share the movies in  a MobileMe gallery, your iTunes library or to YouTube!
